Holman UMC to Host Simon of Cyrene, The Musical

LOS ANGELES - March 8, 2023 - PRLog -- Holman United Methodist Church will host the newly released Closer Walk Ministries' video production of Simon of Cyrene – The Musical on April 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm, 3320 W. Adams Blvd. "This...exciting 90-minute performance describes the dramatic encounter of Jesus and Simon in Jerusalem on the day we call Holy Friday."

The play was written by Rev. Dr. Henry Masters, who served as Holman's senior pastor from 2001 to 2012. In Simon, Masters invites conversation about the significance of skin color in biblical times. He describes Simon as "the only African there we know of, in a crowd of Jews and Romans...and he's the one who gets picked" (quoted in Sam Hodges, "Pastor Puts on Musical About Simon of Cyrene," United Methodist News).
