Les Simpson Announces Candidacy for Amarillo City Council, Place 4

AMARILLO, Texas - Jan. 31, 2023 - PRLog -- Amarillo businessman Les Simpson announced his candidacy today for Amarillo City Council, Place 4. "I'm running because I love Amarillo and care about the people who live here. It shouldn't be hard to get the City's attention. I want to listen and help change that. Every voice counts."

Les laid out six points for his campaign to focus on:

1. Make it easier for business owners to thrive and grow
2. Improve Customer Service (trash pick up, roads, and infrastructure)
3. Improve accountability, transparency, and communication
4. Prioritize Public Safety and keeping neighborhoods safe
5. Keep taxes low and cut wasteful spending
6. Consider Amarillo Citizens First

Les has more than 30 years of business and leadership experience. He began his career in the media business, working with newspapers across the country to make them successful, including 15-years as publisher of the Amarillo Globe-News. His experience has given him a unique understanding of the issues facing our city.

Les has been an elder at First Presbyterian Church and has served in leadership roles at numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, Young Life, United Way of Amarillo, and the WTAMU Foundation. He brings leadership skills, critical business experience, and knowledge of local government to help guide our city at such a pivotal economic time.

Les' experiences as a father, business leader, and business owner have shaped his beliefs and driven him to make Amarillo an even better place to live. He looks forward to the challenge of representing all Amarillo residents on the City Council.
