GREENVILLE, S.C. - Dec. 18, 2022 - PRLog -- Melissa Whiteford St. Clair poet and author of "Home Work A Collection of Poems Sparked by One White Woman's Journey on the Matter of Race" is pleased to announce she will be a guest speaker of Pastor Elaine Briefman, leadership success coach with Fishing4Truth. Trajectory: Advocacy Through Poetry talk will be presented on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 1:00 pm Eastern in the Renewal Fire Events by Pastor Elaine Facebook group. The theme for these January talks is Bloom Where You Are Planted.

Putting down roots in South Carolina, she found herself emotionally affected by the rise in social injustice in our country and dedicated herself to learning more about racism. While participating in the course "On The Matter of Race: White People Committed to Beginning the Journey Together" led by Dr. Lynne Maureen Hurdle Price, poetry became a processing mechanism for her thoughtful reflections and responses to homework assignments through verse.

"As a military spouse of a U.S. Marine Corps retiree I have lived the "Bloom Where You're Planted" lifestyle for over 30 years," stated St. Clair. She continued, "It was after our final set of orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island I began writing poetry while in Beaufort, SC to process homework questions posed during my study of racism and systemic racism with Dr. Lynne Maureen Hurdle." She concluded, "Poetry as a processing mechanism is truly a gift from God. Beaufort is a special place and served as the fertile ground for my creativity."
