Lower Keys recreation spans eight different islands. The Lower Florida Keys consist of Summerland Key, Big Pine Key, Cudjoe Key, Big Torch Key, Big Coppitt Key, Little Torch Key, Sugarloaf Key, and Stock Island. Keep in mind, these islands aren't necessarily massive in size, but what they lack in square mileage they more than makeup for a whole lot of fun, exploration, and relaxation. Here are some of the top recreational opportunities you can enjoy in the Lower Florida Keys:

1. Bahia Honda State Park.  This 524-acre wildlife Adventure is one of the most scenes in the entire chain of islands. Visitors will encounter nature up close and personal, including birds, fish, reptiles, and possibly a few deer. This is one of the best spots to spend an entire day, exploring the natural terrain.
2. National Key Deer Wildlife Refuge.  Sprawling over an impressive 8,542 acres, this is perhaps the best location to encounter wildlife just going about their daily routines. There are over 800 animals here, along with more than 20 threatened and endangered species of plants and animals as well.
3. Rent or charter a boat.  Being on an island archipelago means that you'll be surrounded by water at all times. And, this is one of the favorite pastimes for locals and guests alike. Charter or rent a boat and get out on the water to enjoy the sunny skies and gentle breeze cruising the waves, snorkeling, scuba diving, or angling for a big catch. Paddle on the water in a kayak.
4. Spend an afternoon at Blue Hole.  This former limestone quarry is where you'll discover freshwater layered right over salt water, so there is no fishing, swimming, or disturbing it. But, it's one of the most tranquil and mesmerizing places you can visit in the Lower Florida Keys.
