Agency Protects Flight Attendant With Red Lipstick, Skirt, and a Full Beard

WASHINGTON - Dec. 15, 2022 - PRLog -- The Washington Human Rights Commission has determined that there is reasonable cause to believe that Alaska Airlines [AA] acted illegally when it would not permit a beard-wearing flight attendant named Justin to dress like many female flight attendants and is seeking a legal order to force AA to permit that and other similar practices by employees who self describe themselves as being "non-binary" and "gender fluid."

But since the complainant has apparently offered no proof that he has a medicalwhich requires him to appear in a feminine style, issuing the legal order could put an end to anything in company dress codes which has any different standard for males and females

Ironically, AA has apparently gone much further than most employers to accommodate employees of different gender identities.

Moreover, since no proof seems to be required, any employee, regardless of biological gender and/or outward appearance, could claim to be non-binary and/or gender fluid, and to dress, wear makeup and jewelry, etc. as permitted by either the masculine/male or the feminine/female dress and grooming standards.

Any such ruling as is being requested could also provide a strong legal precedent for other jurisdictions which likewise prohibit discrimination based upon sexual identity, such as Washington D.C.

Banzhaf, who specializes in sex discrimination law, said this new ruling reminds him of some equally questionable if not unbelievable decisions made under the British medical system.

Transgendered [M2F] individuals with a penis but no vagina would being asked to come in for medical tests on their nonexistent cervices, while transgendered [F2M] persons with a vagina and cervix would not be offered these same life-saving tests, under new guidelines which appear to place lives at risk and encourage a physically impossible medical exam on organs which simply do not exist.

And in a situation closer to - and almost a parody of - the bearded flight attendant, a patient with a penis and a full beard was nevertheless offered a cervical test because, despite his clearly masculine appearance and style of dress, he had registered himself as being "gender neutral."
