Artist of the Week and Top Five Digital Artists Go to a Vancouver, B.C. Creative

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Dec. 7, 2022 - PRLog -- According to the publications Stir Vancouver "Five Eastside Culture Crawl Artists Using Technology to Catch" and TriCityNews.com "Artist of the Week", Garrett Andrew Chong has created a bit of a stir during the annual Culture Crawl in East Vancouver, BC Canada.

The independent multimedia artist opens his studio at 89 Gore Avenue to the public during the FirstSaturday.ca of each month. Open House / Studio Tours will commence January 7, 2023 with current health and safety protocols.

Chong believes Stir Vancouver and Tri-City New are exceptional publications dedicated to showcasing The Arts, in the Greater Vancouver Area.

Liminal Illusions, is Garrett Andrew Chong's latest body of work focused on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish & Tsleil-Waututh Nations. "Forced into seclusion, accepting solitude and re-emerging from isolation; my illuminations symbolically capture our human transition through the flow of nature" Chong shares "Stumps and trees radiate their true auras, seedlings glow and burst with everlasting spirits and landscapes open as vibrating apparitions, metaphorical illusions or signposts to the next path." The latest of Chong's 2D artworks, Gaia, 2022 – "Traditional Lands… New Beginnings" was selected for the Culture Crawl's special juried exhibition and Kinship, 2022 was selected for the curated artist preview catalogue: NEXT

Since graduating from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in the mid 1980s, Chong has won awards for his multimedia artworks, which draw from spiritual influences including sacred teachings, Samantha meditation, and Hatha yoga. Light is a through line in his work, from his early black-and-white film-based infrared photographs to ambient illumination of HDR technology.
