Directed by Uday Alexander, this film represents an opportunity to experience the Territory in its modernity. With rising stars like Sita Valadian (Indian), Brighton Mugadza (African), Frank Gustafson (Australian) Just before Christmas last year (2021), the team, led by writer-producer Angelo Raza, took the challenge to create the trailer of the film to Kickstart the fundraising campaign on Australian Cultural Fund crowdfunding platform. Thanks to Creative Partnership Australia MatchLab program, the City of Darwin, and Corral Coast Distributors sponsorship, the creative team could deliver the product on time, and Promised Land short could enter the festival circuits since February 2022. Nominated in two online competitions, the film won the Global Film Festival Award for Best Trailer and Best First Time Director. Shipped from Los Angeles, USA, the Golden Star trophy landed in the territory early this month. The statuette will be revealed to the public during the Promised Land Soundtrack live music performance, scheduled for 3 December 2022, at 7:30 pm at the Darwin Entertainment Centre. The Darwin World Mix band performance represents an opportunity to introduce the project to the public while using an applause meter to gauge the public's response to the prospective songs for the movie soundtrack. Film Director Alexander Uday came on board to develop the trailer. Sarah Price of Castaway NT, a screencasting agency, contributed to finding local talents while the indigenous business Saltwater Bird Production provided the sound recording to Cinematographer Jax Perrin from WeAreCreatives Production (now Hero Production). Promised Land was pitched at the two biggest global markets for films in Australia including Screen Forever 2022 (Gold Coast) and at Melbourne International Film Festival MIFF37 2022. As a result, an experienced producer has accepted to join the team and is now busy working on the next stage of the film project.
