On your toughest of days, what motivates you to put one foot in front of the other?

What motivates me are my faith and family and friends who support me. Attending Bible study and church regularly helps me build and maintain my faith. There is usually a Word that is right on point with what I need and gives me the encouragement to keep going. My family and friends consistently encourage me and offer patient, gentle, and constructive criticism when needed. They often make out-of-the-blue phone calls to tell me that they see me, they love, and are proud of me. Those phone calls tend to be right when I need them.

Have you drawn inspiration from other women? Tell us about someone who has inspired you.

My mother inspires me every day. She lights up a room with her elegance and stature. Her energy draws people to her, and, at the end of their interaction, she leaves a joyous presence that makes her even more memorable. She has a heart to help others and serves her community. She exudes strength that in turn gives me strength and motivates me to grow without any barriers. She is my prayer warrior, my sounding board, my dance partner, my friend, my rider, my homie, but most importantly she is my mother.
