By: Tomas & Jani About Tomas & Jani: Tomas & Jani are a small circular business that make surfaces and contemporary furniture out of waste materials. They use a variety of waste materials in their products such as used coffee grounds, coffee bean husk, recycled paper, reclaimed wood, ground metals (copper, brass, steel, bronze etc) and stone etc. All the products they use are cruelty free and non-toxic. Tomas and Jani was founded by Slovenian-born Jani Lemut, who moved to London in 1992 after graduating from the School of Arts and Woodworking in Ljubliana. His move was encouraged by his desire to expand his design skills and broaden his experience. After moving from London to St Ives. Cornwall, he eventually settled in Brighton after starting a family, which he describes as "brilliantly eclectic". The Tomas & Jani workshop is just up the road in Lewes, and as well as selling their own collection online, they also specialise in bespoke projects. When asked about his passion for sustainability, Jani said "As a child I loved the beauty of the forests, lakes and mountains surrounding my home. This naturally led to a passion for the environment and sustainable materials. My biggest loves are furniture and abstract art; many of my pieces are sculptural in their form and everything is entirely hand-crafted. I produce my furniture using a 'closed loop production' system which means that the items often use reclaimed materials, they are durable, repairable and there is minimal waste, all of which is non-toxic." The pop up shop will be at The Converted Chapel Retail Space, 114 Church Street, BN1 1UD (just next door to Côte Brasserie) from the 8th-11th December 2022 https://www.tomasandjani.co.uk https://www.instagram.com/ End
