Follow on Google News | Public Invited to Review AJHS's Naval Leadership Training in ActionThe Inspection, which lasts approximately one hour, includes a traditional Pass and Review and a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Ceremony. The event recognizes the program's 25 years of excellence as well as serving as a kick off to Veteran's Day. The program is overseen by Lieutenant Commander Gary Lock, USN (Retired) and Master Gunnery Sergeant Guerrero, USMC (Retired). In 2021 the AJHS program expanded to include eighth grade students. The Mission of the program is to instill in students the value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. The high merits of the unit have been demonstrated through outstanding performances from the Color Guard, Armed/Unarmed Drill Teams, Armed/Unarmed Exhibition Teams, Athletic Teams, STEM programs, CYBER Patriot, Robotics, Orienteering and of the Unit as a whole. The Apache Junction High School NJROTC will continue to strive for excellence. AJHS emphasizes a well-rounded education where academics, sports and extracurricular activities allow students to grow scholastically, physically and emotionally. AJHS graduates have access to more scholarships per student than in most communities in the Valley and qualifying students have access to Promise for the Future to earn a tuition-free education at Central Arizona College. Registration for all new students who wish to enroll in Apache Junction Unified School District schools are currently being accepted at all school locations.
