LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Oct. 25, 2022 - PRLog -- Launched by Keep America Beautiful® in 1997, this year marks the 25th anniversary of America Recycles Day® – the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. The trademark initiative is traditionally celebrated by thousands of communities all across the nation on November 15 each year. In Georgia, Keep America Beautiful affiliate, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful, will team up with its partners at Gwinnett County Solid Waste Management to host an America Recycles Day commemoration on Saturday, November 5. During a three-hour event at Coolray Field, the two organizations will collect items that cannot be recycled curbside in the county – such as electronics, tires, clothing, sneakers, and latex and oil-based paint. They will also be accepting paper for shredding.

"Since this year marks the 25th Anniversary of America Recycles Day, we're hoping for a historic turnout from our Gwinnett County neighbors on November 5," said Schelly Marlatt, Executive Director for Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful. "Beyond recycling, this national initiative of Keep America Beautiful is also designed to encourage Americans to invest in recycled materials. From glassware and storage containers to clothing and even toilet paper, you'd be amazed at what you can find out there that's been made from recycled goods. By recycling and investing in products made from recycled materials, you'll be doing something good for the planet AND our local economy! While America Recycles Day is just one day, we hope the lessons it teaches us are observed all other 364 days of the year."

Items collected during America Recycles Day 2022 include:
  • Electronics – Recycling is free except for TVs, monitors and printers. Attendees are asked to bring cash – $35 for projection or console TVs, $15 per monitor or flat screen TV and $5 per printer.
  • Paint –Both latex and oil paint will be accepted - limited to ten gallons per vehicle
  • Tires – Limit 8 tires per vehicle - no dealer tires
  • Textiles – Including ently used clothes and sneakers
  • Paper shredding – Up to five copier paper boxes

In addition to diverting items from local landfills, recycling helps conserve vital natural resources, prevents pollution, saves energy, creates jobs and taps a domestic source of materials while supporting American manufacturing. America Recycles Day 2022 in Gwinnett (https://gwinnettcb.org/events/america-recycles-day%ef%bf%bc/) kicks off at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. Coolray Field is located at 2500 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. To learn more about Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful (https://gwinnettcb.org/) and its programs and events, visit www.gwinnettcb.org.
