Ground Breaking UK Joint Palestinian and Israeli Speakers Tour

WESTMINSTER, U.K. - Oct. 14, 2022 - PRLog -- Speaking on the theme of Two Stories, Two People - One Land, Israeli Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger and Palestinian Noor Awad will share the ground breaking message of Roots/Shorashim/Judur, as well as their personal stories of transformation to audiences throughout the UK from 16 - 27 November 2022.

Roots an Israeli-Palestinian grassroots initiative for understanding, nonviolence and transformation is based in Judea & Samaria/The West Bank (also known as The Occupied Territories). It is a unique network of local Palestinians and Israelis who have come to see each other as the partners needed to end their conflict. Through mutual respect and dialogue, they challenge inter communal assumptions within communities by recognising one another's common humanity, human rights and dignity.

Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger said:

"Since 2016 Roots has created and operates the only joint Israeli-Palestinian community centre in the entire West Bank/Judea & Samaria. This safe space hosts social, religious, and educational activities, bringing together hundreds of Palestinians and Israelis of all ages who begin to realise that there are two stories, not one in this land, and that the only way forward is to hear and understand both."

Noor Awad added:

"The world needs to hear our story, by speaking openly and from the heart we are building trust with one another and creating a new discourse around the conflict in our respective communities. At Roots local people are taking personal responsibility for making change. Working in the grass roots we have created a joint vision for a better future for us all, where despair existed, we now have tangible hope."

"I am delighted to announce the start of the FoRUK tour at the Scottish Parliament on Weds the 16th November in Edinburgh. The tour schedule also includes visits to London, Luton, Huddersfield, Warwick, Birmingham and Manchester, to which all are welcome."

As part of the tour the launch of Friends of Roots UK and a press conference will be hosted by Alex Sobel MP and Afzal Khan MP at the Houses of Parliament on Monday 21 November. They will be joined by Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger and Noor Awad.
