PRLog -- On the occasion of Africa Day, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema announced his quest toward abolishing death penalty.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani, the founder and current Chairman of the Portland Cement Zambia, has wholeheartedly supported this announcement from the Zambian President and stated that he will provide legal and regulatory support to ensure that this decision becomes reality soon.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani is one of the most successful and celebrated businessmen in Zambia, with several successful businesses such as Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments. He is also known for his philanthropic achievements such as Prison Fellowship Zambia. Prison Fellowship is one of the top Christian Outreach Programs in Zambia that works towards the welfare of the Zambian prisoners.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani states that the condition of the Zambian prisons is extremely degrading with majority of the prisoners devoid of even basic human dignity and fundamental human rights. As a result, the concept of death penalty holds no meaning for them as they are not aware of their final day on this planet, making every day a punishment. Dr. Rajan Mahtani further stated that death penalty is religiously incorrect as the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on Cross was for the entire human race, believing in him. Also, only those individuals who have not sinned on this planet should be allowed to take another life. As such, death penalty no longer holds any significance on this planet and as such, the decision made by the Zambian President was a step in the right direction.
