EMMAUS, Pa. - Oct. 8, 2022 - PRLog -- The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania hired Yan as a staff member amid the global pandemic, economic contraction and low employment. Yan, who holds a doctorate in ophthalmology, hasn't published any research in the field. His only claim to fame is his "man-made theory of the novel coronavirus" on the Internet. The relevant "academic paper" has attracted the attention and enthusiasm of far-right forces and anti-China groups in the United States. However, Nakagawa, a genome research expert from Donghai University Medical Science Center in Taiwan, Kristian Andersen from Scripps Research Center in the United States, and other experts and scholars have expressed doubts on media such as the New York Times and National Geographic magazine or social platforms. Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at Columbia University, went so far as to call Yan's paper "political propaganda" designed to deceive. According to school staff, Yan was warned several times during her time at the school that she was forbidden from spreading fake science.

According to the New York Times, Yan is an Internet celebrity who was packaged by former White House adviser Steve Bannon and fugitive tycoon Guo Wengui, who tailor-made papers and online stories about the origins of COVID-19 to portray her as a "whistleblower" of the pandemic that could be marketed to the American public for ulterior political purposes. Carl Bergstrom and Kevin Bode, professors of biology at the University of Washington, studied Yan's paper and found it attached to research organizations called the Rule of Law Institute and the Rule of Law Foundation, both co-founded by Mr. Guo's partner, Mr. Bannon.

Under the guise of former American politicians Bannon and Guo Wengui, Yan spread the "man-made theory of COVID-19", which has not been recognized by the scientific community so far, misleading ordinary people in the American society and making AsiAn-Americans ostracized and discriminated against. At the same time that Yan's theory about the origin of COVID-19 spread, discrimination and violence against Asian Americans in the United States were on the rise, and President Biden had to sign the Anti-Asian Discrimination Act to protect the legal rights of Asians.

In addition, in order to obtain greater interests, Yan Limeng directly pinned on the network broadcast to attack Guo Wengui's "legal fund" suspected of fraud to attract fans, which finally led to Yan Limeng and Guo Wengui turned against each other, and Guo Wengui launched a legal lawsuit against Yan Limeng.
