Action OHS Consulting wins national safety award for storm recovery project

RICHMOND, Australia - Oct. 5, 2022 - PRLog -- Health and safety consultants Action OHS Consulting have been recognised with a top award at the prestigious Australian Workplace Health and Safety Awards 2022.

Action OHS Consulting, with project partners Tree Mason and Macedon Ranges Shire Council, won the Health & Safety Excellence (Small to Medium Enterprise) award for its work to establish and operate a storm recovery processing site.

Presented by the Australian Institute of Health & Safety (AIHS) and held on Thursday 29 September 2022, the awards recognise organisations and individuals who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in the field of Workplace Health & Safety.

Craig Salter, Director, Action OHS Consulting, said the award is a testament to the commitment, best-practice, and innovative approaches demonstrated by the project team and Action OHS Consulting staff.

"The award is fantastic recognition for the team involved who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to safety," Craig said.

"It's an honour to be recognised with our project partners for the incredible combined effort to keep staff and contractors safe. We are proud to be involved in a project which is delivering fantastic outcomes for the community."

Tim Callinan, General Manager Action OHS Consulting, said Tree Mason engaged Action OHS Consulting to provide on-site safety support.

"We are incredibly proud of our work to guide the project team to safely establish and operate the project site," Tim said.

"We have worked closely with Tree Mason throughout the project to create and implement best practice risk management that focuses on understanding how work is performed, comply with all relevant legal obligations, and most importantly ensure the safety and wellbeing off all personnel involved in the project.

"This has also included the planning and implementation of critical safety management systems and processes on site."

The storm recovery processing site was established to process and manage debris that resulted from severe storms across Victoria in June 2021.

Phil Neville, project safety lead and Senior OHS Consultant from Action OHS Consulting, said the award is a result of the project team's hard work and commitment to safety.

"The scale of the devastation, clean up and the sheer volume of time, resources and dedication required from the project team has meant the at the project has been incredibly important in helping storm affected communities across Victoria," Phil said.

"As far as we know, a project of this size and scale has never been done before. We have all had to learn, adapt and continually reflect on our work to ensure that we can provide the safest possible environment for our team," he said.

"I am incredibly proud of our work to have delivered this complex high-risk project so successfully."
