Civil Rights Attorney Kim Parker Investigating Allegations of Racial Discrimination at Retailer H&M

WASHINGTON - Sept. 30, 2022 - PRLog -- Washington D.C.- Attorney Kim Parker has been retained to represent an African American male resident of the District of Columbia, to investigate allegations that he was racially profiled by H&M's Loss Prevention staff. It is alleged that, while shopping at H&M located at 1025 F St NW, Washington, DC 20005, the client was looking at and trying on various items of clothing. At some point, he had to use the restroom. Interestingly, H&M does not have a public restroom for its patrons. Consequently, he put the clothes down and attempted to leave to go outside of the establishment when he was stopped by Loss Prevention and accused of stealing. The Loss Prevention Officers falsely represented that they had him on video stealing items of clothing. The client rightfully protested as he had not stolen anything but was unlawfully targeted because of his race. As he was leaving, Loss Prevention Officers stopped a District of Columbia Metro Police Officer and an off-duty FBI agent, who illegally detained the client until District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Officers arrived. DC MPD eventually came, failed to investigate the allegations, but, compelled the client to provide his ID, wherein, they handed it to the H&M Loss Prevention officers, who, issued client a Barring Notice which prevents him from entering the premises for the next 5 years.
