American, Delta, and United Airlines Demand New Flights for Israel

BUENA PARK, Calif. - Sept. 20, 2022 - PRLog -- San Bernardo, USA: Recently, Israel had a moment since the number of visitors to the country hit a record of 4.6 million in 2019. The pandemic occurred, and now the new travelers are eager to return and ready to serve their citizens.

American Airlines and Delta Airlines are now providing additional flights for a few Middle Eastern countries including Israel. American Airlines will expand its scheduled flights from Miami to TelAviv in November, and Delta will be launching its nonstop services from Atlanta next spring. The additions come after U.S travel to Israel grew by 4.5 percent over July 2019, marking the first monthly gain since the pandemic began.

Yael Golan, the director of Israel's Ministry of Tourism for the Southern U.S., said that "Travel has picked up, "People are looking for meaningful travel, and they have Israel on their bucket list. It does not matter whether they are Christian or Jewish people. In 2019, international travel to Israel rose to a record 4.6 million visitors, nearly a three-fold increase from 2009. But the pandemic affected so severely that the numbers fell to 832000 people in 2020 and 397000 in 2021. This figure includes all the cruise ship passengers and one-day visitors. Usually, the U.S. is the main supplier of foreign visitors, with around a million Americans visiting the nation in 2019.

In August 2021, Delta announced the new thrice-weekly Atlanta-Tel Aviv route to be launched in May 2023. A few weeks later, the SkyTeam Alliance carrier shifted its start-up date to next March. It plans to operate the new Tel Aviv flights with an Airbus A350- A900 seating capacity of 339 passengers. Delta Airlines flew from Atlanta to Tel Aviv from 2006 to 2011, just before they canceled the route due to low yields and a desire to use the aircraft for Asia Flights.

Since the pandemic, it coincided with an increase in foreign visitors to Israel. Yael Golan said, "We doubled the numbers in four years". Once the U.S. government lifted the requirements for testing, that is when the gates opened.
