1,4-Dioxane and Potential Occupational Exposure Risks Discussed in New Online Video
The IAQ Video Network releases another educational production about an important environmental, health and safety (EHS) topic.
"1,4-Dioxane is used primarily as a solvent in the manufacture of chemicals and as a laboratory reagent," said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates and the IAQ Video Network. "Occupational exposure is most likely to occur by breathing contaminated air or through skin contact. NIOSH states that exposure can harm the eyes, skin, lungs, liver and kidneys, and that 1,4-dioxane may cause cancer. ATSDR reports exposure to high levels of 1,4-dioxane in the air can also result in nasal cavity damage. We hope this new video helps to shed some light on potential occupational exposure risks and the importance of health and safety programs in the workplace."
This video was sponsored by a number of organizations and leading industry professionals that work to protect and enhance the public's health and safety. Sponsors include EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental, CTSI and Healthy Indoors Magazine to name a few.
