Queer History South returns for Dallas conference

DALLAS - Sept. 12, 2022 - PRLog -- The Invisible Histories Project - locating, preserving, researching, and creating accessible collections of the rich and diverse history of LGBTQ+ life in the South - presents 2022 Queer History South "Archives for ALL, Y'all!" conference in Dallas, Friday, September 30, through Sunday, October 2, 2022.

The biannual QHS conference is a vehicle for locating and sharing the rich, but often under-documented history of southern contributions to LGBTQ+ history and society. The conference provide's networking, professional development, and best practices for those directly working (formally or informally, professionally or communally) in this unique historical segnment.

"We are so excited to bring Queer History South to Dallas," said local event co-chair Carl Parker. "Events like 'Archives for ALL, Y'all!' are critically important to the LGBTQ+ community, especially in helping preserve, protect, and pronounce are unique history, especially from a southern perspective where the largest number of gay, lesbian, and transgender people live in the United States - not in San Francisco or New York, but across the South."

Dallas College - El Centro Campus hosts this year's event and includes a special historical and art installation entitled "The Dallas Way - faces of LGBTQ+ history." The exhibit, featuring panels with photos and documents from the University of North Texas Special Collections and self-protraits created by local LGBTQ+ artists, including Dallas College students, area actvities, and other friends of the LGBTQ+ community.
