BRACKNELL, U.K. - July 29, 2022 - PRLog -- Mumps is a communicable viral infection that is usually common in children before the MMR vaccine is introduced.

The most recognizable symptom of mumps is the painful swelling in the side of the face under the ears known as the parotid glands. A person's face appears to be like a hamster if it is affected by mumps.

There are some other symptoms of mumps like headache, high fever, and joint pain, all of these may develop a few days before the bulging of the parotid glands. Mumps are usually not very serious, it has similar symptoms as glandular fever and tonsillitis.

Mumps is dispersed in the same manner as that colds and flu. It spreads through infected droplets of saliva that can be inhaled or picked up from surfaces and repositioned into the mouth or nose. The most contagious state of a person is a few days before the symptoms evolve and for a few days afterward.

To protect your kids from mumps you have to make sure that they're given the collective MMR vaccine for mumps, measles, and rubella.
