Online School and digital education platform, Gaia Learning announces Luke Somarakis as CFO
Traditional schools might be out for the summer, but Gaia Learning is open and preparing for growth.
Luke Somarakis is an experienced start up CFO, working with organisations from seed through to established market share. Also an entrepreneur, he built and sold a digital accountancy firm for small businesses. His focus today is working with social impact organisations that benefit wider society and increase social inclusion for a better tomorrow. Gaias' mission is the perfect fit.
Gaia Learning earlier this year became one of the first online schools to receive Cambridge International School accreditation and also launched an online platform and application called FlexiSchool.io where qualified teachers deliver blended and hybrid learning to families and alternative provision schools in the UK and in the Middle East.
According to the UN, "rapid technological changes present opportunities and challenges, but the learning environment, the capacities of teachers and the quality of education have not kept pace. Refocused efforts are needed to improve learning outcomes for the full life cycle, especially for women, girls and marginalised people in vulnerable settings".
"I believe with the right combination of technology, people and investment this new model of blended and tech enabled education can have a far reaching positive impact. The future of learning is a solution that combines top teaching talent, quality curriculum and engaging and interactive software that is accessible anywhere in the world - Gaia ticks all these boxes and I am thrilled to be a part of taking this mission to the next level," Somarakis said.
