BUTTE, Mont. - July 11, 2022 - PRLog -- Butte, MT – The Southwest Montana Veterans Home is proud to announce the 100th Birthday of one of our World War Two Pearl Harbor Survivor Veterans. David Thomas, a survivor on the USS Helena turns 100 years old today, 7/11/22. Dave is a Montana native and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. The Southwest Montana Veterans Home in Butte is proud to now give back to him in our community. David Thomas was Born in Butte, MT and lived in Deer Lodge, MT. In World War Two, he was stationed on the USS Helena in Pearl Harbor during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Thirty-four members of the USS Helena's crew perished in the attack.. David Thomas survived and went on to serve in the military until November 1946 during which time he received three stars for Asiatic-pacific, one star for Philippine Liberation, one star for American Defense, and a World War Two Victory Medal.  It is an honor to have such a brave man who served his country be a part of the Southwest Montana Veterans Home community on his 100th birthday!
