SBM Renews OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs Star Certification

SBM Health and Safety Management Systems Meet Rigorous OSHA Criteria

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - July 7, 2022 - PRLog -- SBM Management Services, LP has renewed its OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) Star certification for the divisional headquarters site of a leading life sciences organization in St. Louis. VPP certification is OSHA's official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have achieved exemplary occupational safety and health. SBM's VPP-certified safety processes and systems have met OSHA's highest standards for preventing and controlling health and safety hazards in the workplace.

SBM is among only 1% of eligible companies and the only facility soft services provider to successfully complete the challenging VPP application process. The certification renewal is valid for a period of five years. For the site in St. Louis, SBM will continue to work closely with our client to maintain a commitment to the VPP approach to safety and health management.

"SBM is absolutely dedicated to the highest standards of health and safety," said Nick McMackins, SBM President. "Safety is one of our core values because it's so important that our employees can return home safely to their families at the end of every day. This accomplishment is a direct result of the collective effort of our frontline team members, safety professionals, and client partners. We appreciate the leadership of our Vice President of Global Account Management Craig Schade and the team who managed the application and evaluation processes. SBM is proud to lead the way in our industry with this certification."

To earn VPP Star certification, OSHA sets performance-based criteria for a managed safety and health system, invites sites to apply, and assesses applicants against these criteria. The process includes an application review and a rigorous onsite evaluation by a team of OSHA safety and health experts. As part of OSHA's assessment, several elements of SBM's safety programs were named areas of excellence, including our Stop-the-Job program, Good Catch/Near Miss process, color-coded equipment program, job- and site-specific training videos, and our industry-leading mobile performance management platform.

"This recognition from OSHA gives us confirmation that our efforts to establish a culture of safety for our associates and client sites have been successful," said Brian Anderson, SBM Senior Vice President, EHS & Risk. "Our team members know they can prevent safety incidents by proactively identifying risks and operating safely at work and in their daily lives. Renewing our VPP Star Certification is a tremendous achievement for the site and our hard-working associates."
