FORT MYERS, Fla. - July 6, 2022 - PRLog -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County has received a $30,000 grant from Bank of America to support its summer enrichment programs.

The grant provides funding to enhance educational offerings, including science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs. Funds also will bolster reading programs to help bridge the summer learning loss, health and wellness programs that focus on a healthier lifestyle, field trips with educational value and summer youth employment opportunities for high school students.

"We are very grateful to receive this grant for the second consecutive year through Bank of America's Charitable Foundation and for their support to strengthen our community so we may have a lasting impact on our youth," said Julie Todaro, vice president of resource development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County.

Nationally, it's estimated that three in four youth lack access to high-quality summer programs, leaving them at risk for significant summer learning loss. Additionally, one in five young people have no place to go after school, leaving them potentially unguided, unproductive and unsafe. Experts pinpoint high-quality after-school and summer programs as critical to the future of youth.

Charitable grants from Bank of America and other organizations, local businesses and area residents enable the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County to fulfill its mission to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

For many years, Bank of America has worked with nonprofit partners, local organizations, and leaders across public and private sectors in Southwest Florida to help drive economic mobility for vulnerable populations.

"We recognize young adults are the future of Southwest Florida, which is why we invest in partnerships with nonprofit organizations that promote educational, employment and personal enrichment opportunities for students and underserved youth," said Gerri Moll, president of Bank of America Southwest Florida. "Bank of America is supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County's goal to build a strong, diverse talent pipeline of future leaders and create a more empowered community through increased access to scholastic youth services."
