A Child is Waiting by Vernon L. James
By: Strategic Book Publishing & Rights Company
The "stars" in this book are real children and families who were treated by Dr. Vernon L. James for over 60 years in his practice of pediatric medicine. Written in story fashion, their conditions make for fascinating reading.
"I became emotionally involved as I recalled each child and their family," the author said. "When finished, I was rewarded in knowing that I might have touched at least one person to become an advocate for a child. As a poor kid 'raised by a village' in North Carolina, I feel blessed knowing that I have reached out and helped many, many children during my 90-plus years."
Dr. James sheds light on the insidious illnesses that can attack children and rob them of their ability to reach their full potential. Beginning his book with his experience as an intern during the height of the polio epidemic, he sorrowfully remembers the deaths of numerous children in his care who died when their iron lungs lost electricity during a thunderstorm.
A Child Is Waiting can help parents guide their children to a healthier and happier life. This amazing book takes an insider's look at the state of children's medicine and what can be done to improve their lives.
