Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition "Water/Ways" Opens this Weekend in Flagler County

PALM COAST, Fla. - July 7, 2022 - PRLog -- Water/Ways, a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian's Museum on Main Street (MoMS) program opens this Saturday, July 9^th with a ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. The exhibition is presented by The African American Museum and Cultural Center of Florida, in partnership with the Florida Humanities. Water/Ways will be on view in the Museum's Founders Gallery located 4422 N. US Hwy 1, Palm Coast Fla. The exhibition runs through September 3rd, 2022.

The exhibition will include weekly themes as well as special events. This weekend and next week's events include:

Sunday, July 10th, 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. - Bishop Phillip King, Jr. will preach "Spiritual Blessings Through Water" with words and song.  They will also honor a Sunday school member for having her artwork selected for Water/Ways.  The service will start promptly at 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday, July 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the theme will be: 'A Family's History Along the St. Johns River.' Guided by Executive Director of the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center, Gayle Phillips will discuss her family's relationship with the St. Johns River.

Wednesday, July 13th, 11:00 a.m. – Watch live with us The Statutory Hall Unveiling of the Mary McLeod Bethune statue in Washington DC at the Statutory Hall on CSPAN. Admission is free with a ticket and advance registration is required.

During the traveling exhibits stay in Flagler County, a museum docent will be on hand to give tours and answer questions about the Water/Ways exhibit. Tours are conducted in groups hourly, and lectures are two hours including the one-hour tour. Admission is free with a ticket and advance registration is required.
