When will the Mayor of Atlanta finally step up about iFreaknik?

ATLANTA - June 4, 2022 - PRLog -- I was unable to find any information on the itinerary of the weekend's events. Several Atlanta media outlets were contacted for information, but no one knew the details of the event and the chaos that occurred. So I went straight to the mastermind himself, Davinici Barcelo, founder and organizer of iFreaknik.

An event notification instructed ticket holders where to be at and what time.  An ingenious way to avoid unauthorized activities and interruptions from the authorities. The weekend consisted of a Piedmont park takeover, Midnight rides and an exclusive celebrity car show.

Friday's setting was a peaceful picnic at The Meadow in Piedmont Park. It was 78 degrees and sunny. The official attendance is unknown, but the park was packed. Later that evening, groups of 20 participated in "Life Rides" which consisted of cruising up and down Peachtree St from 7pm-3am.  No citations were issued but plenty of gas was burnt. But it was a beautiful gesture that so many people demonstrated their love for loved ones that had past.

Saturday a vintage car show was hosted in West Atlanta by the UCC. All of the entertainment titans were in attendance. Such as Quality Control cofounder Kevin " Coach K" Lee, whom is responsible for the success of Young Jeezy, The Migos, and Lil Yachty to name a few. Also in attendance, award winning record producer and cast member of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Kirk Frost. The pair showcased their personal black and red twin designer old school BMWs for viewing. Later that evening Davinci and several other vehicles left the car show to occupy the "triangle" of Buckhead.

The finale on Sunday was a black version of the first Fast and Furious movie. There were street racers (but no street racing), women in provocative clothes, food vendors selling barbecue plates, and extremely loud music that only compares to a stadium. To describe it moderately, I would call this a true takeover. Men stood on the roofs of their SUVs overlooking the organized chaos called iFreaknik.

The 16th annual ifreaknik successfully embodied the rebellious spirit of the South. The weekend's events proceeded crime free and without interruption from authorities. Why hasn't Andre Dickens spoken on this event that commemorates our culture? Atlanta officials intend to silence Barcelo, in fear that the impact of such an event cannot be contained. Barcelo has consistently organized the event year after year without financial backing or media support from the city. As promised by Barcelo the purpose of the weekend is to keep Atlanta's only tradition alive. He is the only man in the city that has picked up the torch and ran with it. 16 years and still running.

Support iFreaknik.com (instagram @eyefreaknik) in getting the permits from the City of Atlanta to make the event official.
