The technical specifications have not been matched by any passive protecting device on the market so fare.

Copper wire communication cables serving power plants and substations can be exposed to thousands of volts during a power system fault. Fault currents, returning to their source via the power station ground mat produce dangerous and destructive Ground Potential Rise (GPR), Earth Potential Rise (EPR), longitudinally induced voltages and noise in telecommunication cable facilities.

Protecting Broadband Transformers are required to protect Personnel and Telecommunication Equipment located within the Zone of Influence (ZOI) and provide reliable Digital Telecommunication and High Speed Data Transfer in high voltage environments like power plants and substations, while enabling maximum bandwidth. The passive design favors its reliability and reduces the failure rate to zero.

As wireless communication continues its exponential growth the need for wireless antenna sites also increases. Many of these wireless towers are installed at high voltage corridors, making these critical circuits susceptible to power faults and ground potential rise (GPR). These circuits need isolation from these potentially devastating faults, and the isolation must allow the circuit to remain in service during the fault condition.

The enormous bandwidth enables to use the existing telecommunication lines entering high voltage environments while upgrading your power plant or substation automation system and communicate with up to VDSL2 and VoIP. The HVI-TEC 20kV / 1:1 Protecting Transformer has been tested from 150Hz up to fare more than 50MHz (which exceeds the frequency range of today's data transfer about 10 times) and a data transfer rate of up to 300Mbit/s.

An extremely small footprint makes it ideal for installations where space is at a premium. In addition, the HVI-TEC 20kV Broadband Isolation Transformer will reduce next-talk effects, due to insufficient connection symmetry and enables the symmetric connection of communication equipment with asymmetric input, or communication Equipment with insufficient connection symmetry. Signal Protecting Transformers are passive Telecommunication Components, which cannot be replaced by Electronic Components, because of their unique application. Signal Protecting Transformers provide a Galvanic separation of power circuits, for example separation of incoming (P=primary) and outgoing (S=secondary) line as a potential separation (20kV protection) to protect connected communication equipment, from dangerous high voltage peaks, like lighting, GPR / EPR or induction.
