By: New York Theological Seminary This year's two-part event will kick off on May 19, 2022, with a virtual installment on May 19, 2022 at 7:30PM EST. This year's virtual event topic is "Audacity in Motion," Decarcerating the Mind" which focuses on helping those who have been negatively affected by the prison system. 2022 virtual event special guests include: Toni Blackman, Akeem Browder, Rev. Sharon White-Harrigan, Tina Luongo, Rep. Latrice Walker, Rev. Willie Francois III, Suzy Salamy, Professor Paula Johnson, and Caryn York. The in-person gala fundraiser, themed Redeeming Lives, Restoring Hope and Reclaiming Power will be held on June 2, 2022 from 6PM-9PM EST. Proceeds from the event will tackle prison education reform and support their pioneering second Master's Degree Program at Bedford Hill Corrections Facility for Women. 2022 Honorees are:

Dr. Lakeesha Walrond, NYTS defines "Urban Angels" as a person, group of people, or organization who/whose has had an impact on global and urban (cities) ministries, innovatively; Past Urban Angels have included Actress, director, philanthropist, and "Mother of The Black Community," Phylicia Rashad; Director, Screenwriter, and Film Producer Shaka King; Immunologist, scientist, co-vaccine developer Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett, and other trailblazers.
