Wonder Gardens offers Summer Camps starting June 6

FORT MYERS, Fla. - May 11, 2022 - PRLog -- The Wonder Gardens has openings for students ages 6 to 12 for weekly "Camp Wonder" summer camp sessions offering educational wildlife experiences, hands-on activities and science exploration.

Camp Wonder is offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays from June 6-July 1 and July 11-22. Each week includes a spotlight topic and behind-the-scenes experiences. The camps offer participants a unique opportunity to be in the gardens after visitors leave, as the gardens are open for summer hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting June 1.

Sessions include:
  • June 6-10 - Super Science is dedicated to all-things science! Campers will learn about animals through experiments, exploration and educational activities using everything from field equipment to microscopes and more.
  • June 13-17 - Planet Protectors shares the wonders of the world!  Learn how we benefit from our planet and how we can give back.
  • June 20-24 - Animal Ambassadors week that is all about the animals! Learn about zoo-keeping, feeding, enrichment and caring for 300 resident animals.
  • June 27-July 1 - Bees, Butterflies & More is supported by the Billy the Bee Foundation to learn all about the important animals that help turn flowers into food!
  • July 11-15 - Nature Navigators teaches the skills of an avid adventurer through activities like fort and fire building.
  • July 18-22 - All About Wonder takes place behind the scenes of our history and mission, while meeting all the exciting, rescued animals that call the gardens home. Campers will engage in scientific experiments, leadership demonstrations, crafts, animal encounters and more!

Rates are $150 per week for nonmembers and $125 for members. Camp scholarships are available. Programs run Monday through Friday, with early drop off at 8 a.m. and late pickup at 4:30 p.m.
