Bill & Carolyn Hayes Foundation Announces 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - May 3, 2022 - PRLog -- Winston-Salem, North Carolina - The Bill & Carolyn Hayes Foundation announces their 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament to be held at the Maple Chase Golf & Country Club in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Friday, May 13th, 2022. Proceeds raised from the tournament will provide scholarships to area Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), both now and in the future.

Priority Charity Sponsor Vulcan Materials Company, the nation's largest producer of construction aggregates, has partnered with the Hayes Foundation for this event. Vulcan Materials Company launched their own grant initiative in 2019 to support select Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in key areas of the Southeastern United States.

Coach William "Bill" Hayes' legendary career included coaching football and administrator of college athletics. Coach Hayes served as the head football coach at Winston-Salem State from 1976 to 1987 and at North Carolina A&T State University from 1988 to 2003, compiling a career college football record of 195–104–2. In 27 seasons as a head coach, Bill has the distinction of being the winningest coach at both football programs as well as the first black football coach in the ACC. He is an alumnus of North Carolina Central University and inductee into numerous sports halls of fame including the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.
