Local Professional Football Player, Jovon White, Signs with Tucson Sugar Skulls (IFL)

BROOKLYN PARK, Md. - April 25, 2022 - PRLog -- Black Diamond PR & Sport Management Firm, one of the top 10 independently owned Sport Management Firms in the U.S., is pleased to announce the signing of their client, and Brooklyn Park native, Jovon White, to the Tucson Sugar Skulls. The Tucson Sugar Skulls are a professional arena team in the Indoor Football League (IFL), located in Tucson, Arizona.

Jovon White, a Brooklyn Park native, is a 5'11, 175 lb free safety out of Fitchburg State University. Upon his graduation, White had phenomenal showings at different tryouts and combines in front of many NFL and CFL scouts. He was able to play with Amarillo Venom for the 2021 season. Tucson took notice of his performance and were impressed with his talents. They have gained a stellar FS who will work to bring Tucson a championship.

"This opportunity means so much to me," said White. "Having only played one season of arena in 2021 and to already be called up to the IFL tells me that what I see in my talents is the real deal. I'm excited to be able to help this team and hopefully bring home some hardware!"

The Tucson Sugar Skulls is a professional indoor football team in the Indoor Football League (IFL). The IFL introduced them in 2018 as an expansion team. They began their inaugural season in 2019 at the Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona. The Sugar Skulls made the playoffs in their first season, where they lost to the league champions Sioux Falls Storm. They were the first expansion franchise to make the playoffs in IFL history. Before their 2020 season began, the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Tucson did participate in the 2021 season but unfortunately did not proceed to postseason pay. Tucson Sugar Skulls are led by head coach Dixie Wooten, who is hopeful to bring home an IFL Championship trophy to Tucson.

In 2021, the Indoor Football League had active teams in Spokane, Washington; San Jose and San Diego, California; Phoenix, Tucson and Prescott Valley, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Frisco, Texas; Bismarck, North Dakota; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Des Moines, Iowa; Moline, Illinois; Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin; Worcester, Massachusetts and Louisville, Kentucky. The Pirates ousted the Rattlers in the United Bowl 37-34 to claim the IFL Championship title. For the 2022 season, the IFL has new expansion teams in Las Vegas, Nevada and Columbus, Ohio giving the IFL 16 active teams.
