Goodwill SWFL Wins Best Overall Charity Event at Community Foundation Charity Event Award Ceremony
By: Goodwill Industries of SWFL
Now, in its 16th year running, Festival of Trees has become a family holiday tradition in downtown Fort Myers bringing thousands of visitors of all ages together to see beautifully decorated trees from local businesses. By buying a raffle ticket, anyone has a chance to win a tree and all of its accompanying presents. Proceeds from this annual fundraiser now benefit both Goodwill and the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center.
"We are so grateful for the people who worked hard to get this event off the ground 15 years ago and the individuals and organizations that make it the holiday tradition it is today," announced Ashley Price-Swick, Goodwill SWFL's Director of Development.
Although it has morphed over the years, the 4-day event ushers in the holidays at the SBDAC located at 2301 First Street in the River District of Fort Myers.
In addition to the tree raffle, Festival of Trees participants can enjoy the "Holiday Stroll" down First Street, the official wreath lighting with the Mayor, free outdoor concerts, Santa's Block Party, entertainment, pictures with Santa and a children's workshop.
"Sometimes, everything just comes together beautifully. This award is for the charity event that was firing on all cylinders and succeeded in a truly impressive way," states The Community Foundation in their description of the winning qualifications.
Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida is committed to serving people with disabilities and disadvantages by offering life-changing opportunities to achieve independence. The Festival of Trees event helps to fund the many programs and services offered throughout the Southwest Florida community. For more information, visit http://www.GoodwillSWFL.org.
