Churches to Fight WV Foster Care Crisis at "All In Foster Care Summit"

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - April 12, 2022 - PRLog -- Churches to Fight West Virginia Foster Care Crisis at "All In Foster Care Summit"

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., April 12, 2022 — West Virginia has the nation's highest per capita rate of children in foster care. In response to this situation, Chestnut Mountain Village, a ministry of Chestnut Mountain Ranch, is holding the "All in Foster Care Summit" on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in Morgantown, W.Va.

The Summit invites church leaders, pastors, and those interested in how the church can help children and families to become part of a church-led foster care movement in the Mountain state.

The Summit will feature prominent national and state leaders who will help attendees:

• Understand West Virginia's urgent foster care situation
• See how the church is uniquely positioned to make a difference
• Learn practical ways to care for children & families in foster/kinship care
• Begin to transform foster care in their communities

The All In Foster Care Summit will include topics, speakers, and panels discussing the foster/kinship care crisis, why churches should be involved, and how churches can help children and families in care. Summit featured speakers include:

• Jason Johnson - Director of Church Mobilization and Engagement at the Christian Alliance for Orphans; Author of Reframing Foster Care, ALL IN Orphan Care, Everyone Can Do Something and Effectively Engaging Churches.
• Lynn Johnson – President and Founder of ALL IN Fostering Futures; Former Assistant Secretary for U.S. Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families.
• Neal Brown – Head Football Coach at West Virginia University.

"Throughout the nation, church communities are making foster and kinship care stronger," said Greg Clutter, Director of Foster Care for Chestnut Mountain Village. "Churches and faith-based organizations have developed some of the most innovative and effective programs for supporting and helping children and families in foster, kinship, and adoptive care. This movement is spreading throughout the U.S., and the goal of The Summit is to bring the movement to West Virginia."

The "All In Foster Care Summit" will be held at Chestnut Ridge Church in Morgantown on May 18, 2022. Event check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m., with the Summit running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend should register in advance at https://cmvwv.org/
