Jaliyla Fraser, founder, and CEO of Fraser Mathematics Solutions was awarded the Lebby C. Jones Foundation Woman of Excellence Award Saturday, May 26. The award was presented during the Women's Empowerment Bruncheon in Orange, NJ.

The foundation presented the award to Fraser for her "dedication and contributions within the fields of medicine, education, faith, public service, and/or business within the East Orange Community.

Fraser founded FMS in 2017 to provide:

• Comprehensive math institute training around high-quality mathematics teaching and learning for administrators, teachers, and parents;
• Culturally responsive and inclusive curriculum and supplies; and
• Student exposure to science, technology, engineering, and math in authentic STEAM Summer Programs.

"I'm extremely honored to receive this award from such a prestigious organization," said Fraser. "As a product of the East Orange school system, it was important to me to ensure that our students are equipped with the skills. I could have taught anywhere in the world, but I chose to come back to East Orange and invest in my community."

Lebby C. Jones was a longtime resident of the great Township of Irvington, Freeholder Jones serving her Irvington community. She enjoyed a 33-year career as an educator working as both a teacher and guidance counselor in the Newark public schools.
