MANDEVILLE, Jamaica - April 9, 2022 - PRLog -- Jamaican artist Junior Spice has just released a new single, a Reggae cover of "Drift Away." Spice is already on to a successful start as a video went viral on social media since airing on 4 March. His duet with DJ Mr Steele from the Music Chart show brought in over 150k views across platforms and continues to rise. It was recorded at the hardware store where Spice works. He said, "I have been overwhelmed with the response. I have received calls from all over the globe about the video, and people I haven't heard of in years are back in touch. It's all been very encouraging!"

Spice continues in this Lovers Rock style as per his previous releases "Can You" (2015) and the previous EP, "Coming Over Tonight" (2015), which included the popular song "Angel" with the remix featuring Jahli Whylaws.

Background
Spice (Tyron Daley) returned to Jamaica in 2016 after being away for several years. He is now based in Mandeville. His vocal talent was inspired by his uncle Eric Tello, a successful artist in the 70s. He lists his mentors as Bagga Case and Winston Boyo Hammond (Beres Hammonds' brother). In the '90s, Spice was also part of a group called "Detour." In 1999, He migrated to Tampa, Florida; Junior Spice endeavoured to continue his music career and was able to form a Reggae band called "Rebels with a Cause." Spice was the lead singer, performing in Florida and the West Coast. They opened for various artists like Luciano, Yellow Man, Culture, and Freddie McGregor. He also performed at Wild Splash and was able to perform alongside major hip-hop and R&B artists like Ashanti, Busta Rhymes, and Sean Paul.

Drift Away was written by Country songwriter  Western Singer Mentor Williams in 1970 and initially recorded by John Henry Kurtz on his 1972 album, Reunion." An updated version b by Soul Singer, Dobie Gray became the best-known hit in 1973. Gray also had a hit with the same song being recorded with Uncle Kracker in 2003.
