OFOSA was started at the kitchen table of our founders, Cathy and Bill Nechak in 2002, along with Sue Woodson and Loretta Flemming, and was granted nonprofit status in 2003. We are so grateful to have been able to save over 20,000 'last chance' animals from high kill shelters, restored them to health, and through adoption, placed in loving forever homes. "In 2002, a small group of folks wanted to make a difference in homeless animals' lives. Here it is 20 years later and look what OFOSA has become. I was privileged to be a part of an organization that put animal welfare first. Over the years OFOSA has grown to be one of the most respected rescues in Oregon. Everyone who has been a part of making this mission a reality, past and present, has a wonderful spot waiting at the rainbow bridge for them," Cathy Nechak-Founder/ "We are so excited to celebrate 20 years of rescuing homeless dogs and cats. I am honored and privileged to have had the opportunity to carry on this legacy for the last 5 years and especially being able to give second chances for forever homes to many medically challenged pets. It's been a wild ride and so very rewarding." Chris Hill-Director OFOSA is planning special events and fundraisers to celebrate this year including an OFOSA Alumni Pet Photo Calendar Contest in the summer. You can stay up to date on upcoming events on the website or social media. Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals is a nonprofit foster-based animals rescue organization.
