Calls for Senate Judiciary Committee Investigation into Big Tech Business Practices

Senate Judiciary Committee Asked to Investigate Alleged Unfair Trade Practices and Unethical Business Deals of Big Tech Corporations.

NEW YORK, Ala. - April 2, 2022 - PRLog -- Brenda Bell, an author, and human rights activist, has asked the Senate Judiciary Committee to look into alleged unfair trade practices by Big Tech firms and their contractors. In a letter to this committee dated March 1, 2022, the author requested that an investigation be launched into allegations of human rights violations, intellectual property rights (Refer: https://www.wto.org/english/tratop_e/trips_e/intel1_e.htm) infringement, and unfair business practices.

To develop and build Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) technology projects, Amazon and other large technology companies have used unfair trade practices and unethical corporate deals. In the development of these A.I. projects, one of its contractors also used forced labor.

It is in opposition to ethical business practices and free and fair trade policies. Companies that refuse to pay wages, insurance, taxes, and other benefits have a competitive cost advantage over those that do. By eliminating all or most tariffs, quotas, and subsidies, free trade agreements lower barriers between countries. Fairtrade assures customers that the people who are making the products they buy are compensated fairly for their endeavors. It also implies that these items were sourced responsibly and sustainably.

"When the cost of doing business is perceived to be high, individuals and businesses are encouraged to cut costs to increase profits. Globally and in the United States, there has been an increase in labor disputes. The reason for this is straightforward. Free labor has a huge return on investment (ROI)," Ms. Bell said in a statement.
