A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Feb. 18 to commemorate the project. The event attracted 50 guests, and attendees heard from Alfredo Pedroza, NVTA Chair and Napa County Supervisor for the 4th District; Alix Bockelman, Deputy Executive Director for Policy at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission; Mitch Weiss, Executive Director of the California Transportation Commission; Ray Tellis, Region 9 Administrator for the Federal Transit Administration and Mike Thompson, Congressman for California's 5th Congressional District prior to the ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony on site. Located at 96 and 101 Sheehy Court in Napa, the NVTA serves as the Congestion Management Agency for Napa County and is responsible for programming state and federal funds for local projects. A Joint Powers Authority, NVTA handles the county's short- and long-term regional transportation planning, working closely with its local, regional, state and federal partners to improve Napa County's streets, highways, bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
