Orthotics Lab Social Mission to Fight Diabetes

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - March 1, 2022 - PRLog -- When I was 40 years old my doctor informed me that I had type 2 diabetes. He told me my blood sugar was 160 (the borderline is 100) and would need daily medication. He further explained it's hard to know how I contracted it, and that there is no cure.

The doctor explained that I needed to revamp my diet immediately, which meant restricting carbohydrates like pasta, potatoes, white bread, and white rice. And explained with careful attention to my diet, beginning an exercise program, and maintaining a normal weight, I might be able to cease the medicine in the future.

But the heart wants what it wants. I was never able to embrace a healthy diet, and thought I could indulge in eating these restricted foods in "moderation." Years later I'm still on the medicine and battling my demons daily, with the last several blood tests my sugar ranged from 110- 120. Better but not great.

I went to a podiatrist with an injury to my foot that was causing me pain. The doctor treated my foot with anti-inflammatory medicine, rest, icing, and stretching exercises. It got a little better but the pain was still there on a daily basis. On the second visit, he suggested custom orthotics, which he explained would give my foot better stability by bringing my foot back into a more anatomically correct position. And that the orthotics would make my foot much more comfortable with greater arch support.

He was right the condition improved almost immediately after putting on the orthotics. They are so comfortable I'm actually glad I had this problem because now I have this level of comfort I never felt before.

After this experience, I decided to start my own custom orthotic laboratory, with 2 major differences. I would bring down the cost doctors charge by 50% and I will donate 5% of profits to the American Diabetes Association.

I've been able to give others pain-free walking again with Magic Carpet Custom Orthotics. There are no Doctor's visits and no Doctor's markups. Order online and delivered to your home, for just $249.99

Americans consume on average 77 grams of added sugar a day, which is triple the recommended daily amount for women. So 77 grams is just under half a cup of sugar, and a major contributor to tooth decay.

High blood sugar levels can cause nerve damage in the feet, and in the most serious cases lead to amputation. If you're over 40 and haven't had a blood test recently, I would recommend taking a free glucose test for diabetes at your local pharmacy or your local Walmart.

More than 37 million Americans have diabetes and the numbers are growing yearly. Your donation helps support diabetes research, advocacy, and educational programs, check them out at; www.diabetes.org

The American Heart Association says high intake of sugar is one of the possible causes of obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, are all linked to an increased risk for heart attack and stroke.
