HBA DOC Celebrates 60th Anniversary
By: HBA of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties
Chartered in 1962, the HBA began serving Durham and Orange Counties as a non-profit trade association affiliated with the North Carolina Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. The goal of the association was, as still is, to provide service and representation to and for members – building contractors and associated professionals – in support of the building industry in the local area and at large. The HBA expanded in 2005 to incorporate Chatham Homebuilders, Inc., becoming what the association is known as today – the HBA DOC. Membership currently stands at over 600 individuals.
Benefits of HBA DOC membership include education, advocacy, professional development, networking, and national name brand discounts and rebates. Members will readily attest that the HBA DOC is a close-knit association where long-term relationships develop.
The HBA DOC offers participation in councils such as Professional Women in Building and the Triangle Sales & Marketing Council, as well as numerous events throughout the year, including golf outings, trade shows, social activities, member mixers, a scholarship fundraising casino night, and an annual Parade of Homes event. The HBA DOC takes pride in giving back to the community via Habitat for Humanity volunteer opportunities, Workforce Development through its Summer Careers Academy, and scholarships for local high school students.
