Cyprus has long been a destination of choice for Brits wishing to retire to the sun with well over 50,000 expats calling the island home. Unfortunately, with advancing years many feel forced to return to the UK against their wishes due to a lack of suitable accommodation and on-site care which they feel may become increasingly important.
Cyprevico developers plan to fulfill this need with the first of several retirement villages - Lazaris Mill - designed along the lines of similar retirement developments in the UK and elsewhere.
As the Chairman of the company said, ''...as a Cypriot it was heart breaking to see so many foreigners leaving the island we all love due to a feeling of insecurity about their future well being and I know personally of many who have reluctantly sold up and left.'' Lazaros Papadopoulos.
The initial development, in the rural village of Tsada just outside Paphos, will consist of a variety of apartments from studios to spacious three bedroom apartments supported by central facilities including indoor and outdoor pools, gym, spa, clubhouse, beauty salon, mini-market, bar and restaurant as well as a pharmacy, medical centre and 24 hour nurse station. Assisted living options are also available and a programme of activities, excursions and educational talks is planned. Friends, family and guests are welcome to visit and stay in the villages 22 room boutique hotel which will specialise in agro and eco tourism.
