CLEARWATER, Fla. - Feb. 23, 2022 - PRLog -- Four members of the Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) participated in the annual Shoot with the Stars event on Saturday February 12th, 2022. The event was held at Tampa Sporting Clays in Land-O-Lakes and was part of CCV's ongoing support for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Police Athletic League (PAL).

Shoot with the Stars is a clay sporting competition sponsored by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, with all funds raised benefiting Pinellas PAL. Sporting clay shoots use shotguns to shoot small, round hard-clay targets launched into the air by throwing machines. The team with the best marksmanship wins.

"Although we did well our first year, we did not get to bring back a trophy," said Joel Anderson, the Vice President of CCV. "But we had a lot of fun and are already planning next years' attendance to go for the gold."

Pinellas PAL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization sponsored by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office to work at-risk juveniles.

"PAL has a tremendous record of helping at-risk youth," said Pam Ryan- Anderson, the President of CCV. "Neil Brickfield, their Executive Director, really cares for those kids and ensures they have the best chance to succeed. Recently one of their soon-to-be graduates was accepted into the U.S. space program!"

Joel Anderson, Sean Wise, Billy Chalmers and Pierre Cournoyer – who are key players in CCV's annual Winter Wonderland and other community events – represented the CCV.

"Our volunteers were with an upbeat, caring group of law enforcement and civilian organization representatives all contributing to the cause of helping children," said Ms. Anderson. "We are very much looking forward to a continued alliance with PAL."

"Lealman is the toughest, most neglected neighborhood in Pinellas County," said Mr. Brickfield. "We provide mentoring, meals, academics and sports to at-risk youth. Because of our donors and volunteers we can continue building connections and positively changing young people's lives. The support of the Clearwater Community Volunteers and all our other contributors are helping us make a difference in this community."

ABOUT THE CLEARWATER COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS

Inspired by the words of L. Ron Hubbard "when children become unimportant to a society, that society has forfeited its future" the Clearwater Community Volunteers was established in 1994 by parishioners of the Church of Scientology (http://scientology.org/) CCV has since expanded over the years to welcome volunteers from all over Tampa Bay, and from all faiths, who share their purpose.
