Austrians in New York Joins World Federation of Austrians Abroad

NEW YORK - Feb. 22, 2022 - PRLog -- On the 15th anniversary of its founding, Austrians in New York, one of New York's largest Austrian clubs with over 2,500 members, joined the World Federation of Austrians Abroad. "We are excited to formalize our status as a marquee Austrian organization by joining the Federation," says Gabriel Foguel, co-president of Austrians in New York, who spearheaded the effort. "This relationship will allow us to better serve our members' needs through the Federation's resources and the active exchange with other member organizations."

The organization started as an informal meet-up of Austrians living in the Greater New York area in 2007 and has since grown into a pillar of Austrian life in New York. The monthly meetings, which take place in one of the local Austrian restaurants have created a recurring means to connect with their home country and to facilitate social and professional exchanges for its members. In addition to its monthly social meetups and networking events, the group offers direct assistance and advice to both new arrivals and long-term residents. "We are a main point of contact for Austrians who want to connect with other Austrians living and working in the city through our vast network of members. We often advise Austrian journalists looking for local sources, connect Austrian business people to local opportunities, and introduce Austrian students to members who are established in the profession," says Foguel.

Austrians in New York Tritt Auslandsösterreicher Weltbund Bei

„Austrians in New York", mit über 2.500 Mitgliedern eine der größten österreichischen Vereinigungen in New York, trat zum 15. Jubiläum seines Bestehens dem Auslandsösterreicher Weltbund bei. „Wir freuen uns, unsere Stellung als renommierte österreichische Organisation damit zu festigen", so Gabriel Foguel, Ko-Präsident von „Austrians in New York", der den Antrag auf Mitgliedschaft in die Wege leitete. „Die Eingliederung in den Weltbund wird es uns ermöglichen, unsere Mitglieder noch besser zu unterstützen."

Am Anfang der Vereinigung stand ein informelles Treffen von ÖsterreicherInnen im Großraum New York 2007. Seitdem hat sie sich als fester Bestandteil österreichischen Lebens in New York etabliert. Die monatlichen Treffen in einem der österreichischen Restaurants vor Ort sind für die Mitglieder zum Bezugspunkt in ihre Heimat geworden. Die Gruppe bietet sowohl Neuankömmlingen als auch Alteingesessenen unmittelbare Unterstützung und Beratung an. „Wir sind eine zentrale Anlaufstelle für ÖsterreicherInnen, die sich in New York vernetzen wollen. Wir begleiten österreichische JournalistInnen bei der Suche nach lokalen Kontakten, bieten österreichischen Geschäftsleute Vernetzungsmöglichkeiten und setzen österreichische StudentInnen mit im Berufsleben verankerten Mitgliedern in Verbindung", sagt Foguel.
