The patients are assessed for symptoms like Dyspnea, Hypoxia (mental confusion), cardiovascular diseases like heart failure, coronary artery disease, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The physicians check the patients affected with Covid-19 for risk factors causing damage to the heart and other organs.
"Hypertension, diabetes, is one of the risk factors that can lead to developing acute forms of Covid-19. These are the co-morbidities that are affecting the lives of the patients suffering from this virus" said Dr Kaffa Ilham a cardiologist in Athens
For assessing the different problems in the body of an individual, the doctors opt for laboratory testing like complete blood count, complete metabolic panel, electrocardiogram (ECG), chest radiograph, and troponin testing.
Troponin testing is usually done for patients who are hospitalized with Covid-19 patients. The approach to treating the Covid-19 patients is different than those of the other patients with heart problems.
A majority of the patients with Covid-19 and heart ailments can be monitored easily without cardiac imaging.
"Depending on the condition of the patient, we analyze and use the tests for assessing the situation of the patients. It is quite different from the tests and procedures undertaken during normal times" said Dr Kaffa Ilham a cardiologist in Athens https://kaffailham.gr
There is no fixed treatment for the patients with cardiac problems and affected with Covid-19. However, doctors are utilizing supportive care for treating patients with heart ailments effectively. They are also opting for different measures to treat patients effectively during the pandemic.
