DC Music Summit Announces Gala to Build Creative Economy

WASHINGTON - Feb. 17, 2022 - PRLog -- DC Music Summit (DCMS), is an award-winning 501(c)(3) nonprofit that empowers creatives and industry professionals in the music industry, especially people of color and women. We support our community by fostering a positive and inclusive environment for professional development, networking, promotion, and inspiration.

DCMS is making a call to all local music industry professionals—and supporters of the local arts scene—to attend our fundraising gala "For the Love of Music" on the evening of March 3, 2022. The gala will be hosted by comedian Anthony Oakes, with performances by Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts students, DC Grammy Chapter Governor and artist Deborah Bond, Billboard charting violinist, vocalist, and educator Chelsey Green, and the ethereal music of Washington Women in Jazz. All D.C. COVID-19 safety protocols will be applied. Tickets are now on sale. (https://www.tickettailor.com/events/dcmusicsummit/629813/)

In addition to gauging interest in attendance by this community, we also welcome donations (https://www.paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/4450712) and in-kind support, giving everyone an opportunity to stand behind our city's musical infrastructure and give music-minded citizens a voice. DCMS has set a goal of raising $30,000 to fund our annual summit and programming operations.

Members of the press are also welcome to join us at the gala, including at the step and repeat portion where we will be conducting video interviews. For those who inquire, we will provide a press pass to attend and cover the event.

DCMS founder and Executive Director Dior Ashley Brown states, "We're thrilled to host our first fundraising gala which will bring our community closer together while highlighting our dynamic music scene! People from all musical and professional backgrounds will gather in support of the same cause—growing the creative economy in the DMV area and uplifting local artists. Let's invest in DMV music."

DCMS envisions a sustainable infrastructure to support local, working musicians and the larger industry community, especially people of color and women. To do this, we need the participation and support of people who share these values.
