SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Feb. 2, 2022 - PRLog -- Sacramento, CA - Race organizers announced Monday that the 19th annual Valentine Run/Walk- Race for Justice will be a virtual event again in 2022. Their decision was made out of an abundance of caution for public safety due to recent surges in COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations related to the Omicron Variant.

The following modifications have been made to the event:
  • The 1.8-mile race will now be converted to 2 miles.
  • Racers must complete their race individually between February 1 and February 14, 2022.
  • The timed 4-mile race must be recorded using our approved timekeeping app Runkeeper™.
  • All participants who register by January 24, 2022, are guaranteed to receive their racing packets by February 1, 2022, via mail.
  • Racers vying for the "best dressed" award can submit photos of their outfits to participate in the competition.
  • Participants who are already registered as in-person racers will automatically be converted to virtual registration.rhb

Awards will still be presented to the fastest male/female runners from the various age groups, the race also awards non-binary, gender inclusive race medals. Special plaques will also be given for the fastest attorneys. All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and participant medal. Proceeds from the Valentine Run will benefit the civil legal aid programs of Legal Services of Northern California.

"The on-going economic and social impacts of the pandemic fall hardest upon the most vulnerable of our neighbors. Your support helps us provide needy individuals, families, and communities with critical civil legal services in the areas of housing, health, income support, and civil rights," said LSNC Executive Director Gary F. Smith.

The Valentine Run/Walk promotes community health and fitness. To encourage fitness for the whole family, LSNC offers discounted family-pack pricing. Participants can also opt to register their canine friends for a commemorative doggie scarf and race gear. Registration and cost information is available at the race website: www.valentine.run.
