Follow on Google News | ![]() The 10th Anniversary of the IAWTV Awards: Winners Announced in Virtual CeremonyThe International Academy of Web Television Awards is dedicated to rewarding the efforts of the best in international, independent web series and digital entertainment.
The list of nominees and categories can be viewed at the IAWTV Awards website at iawtvawards [dot] com. Overall, the IAWTV Awards has nominated 43 shows produced both domestically and internationally. Sci-fi digital channel DUST's series, "Orbital Redux," leads all the nominations with eight, including for Best Drama Series. The independent drama, "After Forever" Season 2, is close behind with seven nominations, followed by Australian series, "Cancelled," This year the IAWTV Awards also welcomes two new vertical categories. The platform Rizzle leads the way with several shows in the running for a total of 22 nominations for the vertical app. IAWTV Awards Executive Producers, Tina Cesa Ward and Sandra J. Payne, are pleased to be able to recognize the best web series from around the world. Submissions came in from 10 countries, including Kazakhstan, Singapore and Brazil, among others. "These past two years have been a challenging time for creators," Ward said. "We're glad to be able to elevate the nominated series and give them a bigger platform through our show. Both the winners and all of the nominees deserve the recognition." Winners were selected from among the nominated shows by a jury pool overseen by the inaugural Jury President, Julie Kalceff, an Australian writer, director and producer, who has had an illustrious career in creating award-winning shows that have had a global impact. Kalceff is most recently known, among many career highlights, for writing, directing and co-producing the television series First Day. This groundbreaking story of a 12 year-old transgender girl starting middle school was the first Australian series to star a transgender actor in the lead role. It has sold to multiple territories worldwide including the UK (CBBC) and the US (Hulu). Ward, who also serves as the Director of the IAWTV Awards, is an award-winning writer/director and a seasoned veteran of independent television, has worked on more than four digital series, including IAWTV Award-winner (Best Directing in a Drama) "Anyone But Me," a series that has garnered more than 100 million views and was the first Writers Guild of America winner for Original New Media. https://www.iawtvawards.com/ End
