High Blood Pressure (hypertension): The silent killer

We hear the word hypertension or high blood pressure regularly now-a-days. We it is not that casual as we might take it, it's a serious disease that can, over a period of time, damage the blood vessel walls and increase a person's risk of heart attack, stroke and other conditions.

  • Confusion, especially in older people
  • Cold, clammy, pale skin
  • Rapid, shallow breathing
  • Weak and rapid pulse
Treatment & medication
The goal of treatment in Hypertension is to guide patients to keep their blood pressure in check, within the normal range

i.e. below 140/90 mmHg. For patients who have diabetes or chronic kidney disease, doctors recommend that they keep their blood pressure under 130/80 mmHg.
