The capital city of Spies: Exciting Documentary "Spy Capital Vienna"
In 1987, the world's most famous spy, James Bond, tried to put a stop to a supervillain in the film "The Living Daylights." Central scenes of the film were shot in Vienna at the time. What only very few know: In Austria's capital, a lot of colleagues of the British top spy have been cavorting for many decades. Around 7,000 secret agents are said to be currently and actively working in Vienna.

From Colonel Redl to Colonel Martin Moeller.
The film leads in nine gripping espionage cases from the year 1910 to the year 2021. It begins with the well-known case of Colonel Alfred Redl, who worked as a mole of the Russians. The end illustrates the agent exchange at Vienna Airport in 2010 and the new case of arrested and released Colonel Martin Moeller 110 years after Redl. Ten Russian spies operating in the US in exchange for four Western agents jailed in Russia. Among the "shadow men": British-Russian double agent Sergey Skripal.
The makers of the documentary managed to recruit top experts for the film project, which was shot at the original locations - even if the conditions during the corona pandemic were of courses not always ideal. Filmmaker Dewall said that the financing could ultimately be secured without secret meetings in coffee houses, messages in "dead letter-boxes"
